Where to Spend 4th of July in Savannah
The 4th of July is just around the corner and if you’re going to be in Savannah, Ga, there’s no better place to celebrate it than on River street in the downtown historic district! A celebration full of grand style and southern atmosphere await, not to mention the fireworks, food, entertainment, and fun.
The family friendly party kicks off at 5 p.m. at Rousakis Plaza on River Street and builds to the spectacular fireworks show over the river at approximately 9:30 p.m. Bring a blanket, some snacks, and a radio. Why a radio, you ask? The fireworks are amazingly choreographed to a music simulcast on Cumulus FM radio stations KIX96.5, Z102.1, and Magic 103.9.
Even though the party doesn’t officially start until 5 pm, grab the family and make a whole day of it! You’ll always find something fun to do to make memories on River Street; visit the artists and craftsmen selling their unique work, try a new food, take pictures in front of the buildings and river, and don’t forget the live music!
Another awesome thing you can do on River Street is take one of the sightseeing tours to experience parts of Savannah you’ve only heard about! Well, even if you’ve been on one of the tours already, I promise you’ll learn or see something new – don’t forget your camera.
The 4th of July means fireworks and fun, so don’t miss out on any of it, no matter how you spend it. I recommend River Street simply because there is so much to do and I can promise you won’t be disappointed with the fireworks show.
The Savannah Riverfront is one of the most visited places by both Savannah and Richmond Hill residents as well as tourists. It is considered one of the best ways to experience just a part of the beauty of Savannah and is home to several annual events, a variety of restaurants, shopping, nightlife, hotels, and so much more. No matter what time of the year you are here in Savannah, there is something going on on River Street.
What’s your favorite thing about the 4th of July?
